First Presbyterian Church @ 1015 5th Avenue in Huntington

Empty Bowls is an annual fundraiser coordinated with Marshall University Public Relations students and the Keramos Art Guild. Each year, hundreds of beautiful hand-crafted ceramic bowls are produced and donated by Keramos for this fundraiser. The bowls are sold at the event and are used to signify all the "empty bowls" around the world. A simple lunch of soup and bread is provided to participants in replication of what you would find in a local soup kitchen. The event also includes various entertainers and a silent auction. All proceeds go to the Huntington Area Food Bank to help fill "empty bowls" around the Tri-State area.

National Hunger Awareness Day
National Hunger Awareness Day is a grassroots effort to raise awareness of hunger in America. On this day food banks, businesses, and individuals plan many different events to help raise the level of hunger awareness in their respective communities. These events range from food drives to interfaith ceremonies. The Huntington Area Food Bank passes out orange ribbons to be worn in acknowledgement of the many hungry people in our community and plans various other awareness events.

Hunters Help the Hungry (HHH)hhh
There are many people involved with this program, but participation by hunters and West Virginia meat processors are key to its success. During the deer hunting season, hunters who legally harvest deer and wish to donate the meat to HHH, can deliver the deer to the nearest participating meat processor. The meat processor will then prepare the meat for pick-up by the Huntington Area Food Bank.

Pound out Hunger
A food drive in collaboration with area schools is a way of teaching kids to give back at a young age. The goal of the "Pound out Hunger" food drive is to begin the process of pounding out hunger in the Tri-State area. Each student gains ownership of his or her community by simply donating one pound of non-perishable food.
